It’s estimated that 80% of us living on the planet will experience back pain at some point in our lives.  Stress, muscle weakness, overuse, habitual patterns of posture and activities of daily living all contribute to our maladies. Learn how to optimize your health by adapting tools from the yoga tradition that support low back function.

 

You will learn to:

  • use yoga postures to relieve low back pain
  • use your breath to support your back's functioning
  • create healthy alignment
  • build a strong foundation for your spine
  • reduce stress that contributes to back pain
  • maintain bone and joint health as you age
  • be more conscious in your daily activities

6-week series

In this 6-week series you'll explore gentle adaptive yoga practices from the Viniyoga tradition. Their effectiveness in relieving low  backpain has been shown in evidence-based research, published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Each class will include a short talk/discussion about a topic related to low back care and experiential learning that draws on practical tools of yoga such as adaptive poses, breathing practices and relaxation exercises, all focused on low back care.

You will learn to recognize unhealthy patterns often associated with low back pain, cultivate an understanding of your body's needs and gain insights that empower you in bringing greater wisdeom into daily living.
 

From week to week new postures will be introduced, previous practices reviewed. The simplicity of these yoga practices make them easily accessible; their authentic roots in the timeless tradtiion of yoga give tools that are transformational, to chart a new course in your personal wellness goals.
