is a dedicated professional with over 20 years experience in adapting Yoga for special needs. Her bachelor's degree is
in gerontology, Thomas Edison State College, NJ. With professional certifications as both Yoga teacher (1980) and as Yoga
therapist, Charlotte has made Yoga accessible for hundreds of practitioners. Her background of teaching classes, workshops
and private instruction includes four years as faculty for Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health; a teaching consultant for senior
residential communities for 15 years; 5 years as consultant at a hospital based wellness program offering courses such as
"Yoga for Low Back Pain" for the general public and for focused interest groups. "Yoga continues
to meet me where I am. Combining the physical benefits of conditioning with the profound tools of breath and meditation that
ease my nervous system and steady my mind, I find Yoga to be a valuable complememnt to my health and well-being."
Yoga Certification Background: - Yoga Therapy certification, American Viniyoga Institute. To earn this
certification participants presented case work related to principles such as patient/therapist relationship skills; incorporating
models from classical Yoga and Ayurveda in treatment; and applying techniques related to chronic conditions dealing with physiology,
psycho-emotional and physical levels of wellness and disease. My final project applied adaptive Viniyoga for people living
with Multiple Sclerosis and it was presented to and evaluated by my trainers and colleagues.
- 500 hour certification, American Viniyoga Institute. This three year intensive
program included thorough training in the bio-mechanical effects of yoga asana; how to appropriately introduce breath techniques
and meditative tools such as mantra and seated practice, and yoga philosophy to integrate yogic practice in the most relevant
way for the practitioner.
