Adaptive Yoga (Viniyoga) classes and Yoga Therapy are offered here in Ashland. Whether you're a long-timer or just coming for a visit, we welcome you and wish you peace. Local residents treasure this whole Rogue Valley for good reason. It is a special place to call home.

In this unique community you'll find represented the arts (Oregon Shakespeare Festival, among other venues), good food, sustainable principles of energy use and farming, natural beauty, nearby vineyards, and rich history of the American West. And ... yoga for wellness!

Yoga is holistic and noncompetitive in nature. You progress in your own way and pace. My aim as a teacher is to create a yoga practice that supports the physical body in starting from where you are today; steadies your mind so that the mind's attention can be more easily directed; calms your nervous system; lightens the heart and inspires the spirit.

My background has been in several approaches to yoga. With sincere respect to my teachers from the past 30 years of dedicated studies, I teach using the methodology of the Viniyoga tradition. It has a focus on therapeutics and on safety. This allows you to build a strong and stable foundation physically, in a “non-traumatic” way. Hence you will be guided in listening to your body with the intention of respecting signals of pain and discomfort, rather than pushing through them.

If your body is healthy and pain free, you benefit from understanding how to develop your body's capacity for beautiful movement. The challenge here is to be disciplined in what will serve your body in the long run.

Yoga has something for everyone, regardless of your age or your physical ability. The eldest person who is currently practicing with me is 89 years old! As Krishnamacharya, a great yogi who revived the adaptive teachings of yoga said,” If you can breathe (consciously), you can do yoga.” If your interest is in contemplative practice, yoga prepares you to be still. If you want to reduce stress, yoga helps you relieve tensions.

Please feel free to contact me by phone or e-mail if you want more info about any of my services. Let me know your questions about yoga. Check the calendar for details about ongoing classes. Thanks for visiting our website!

"Cultivate the breath. Focus your mind, and direct it into the heart. That is the meaning of Spirituality."
